What are the first symptoms of alzheimer's disease?

i live with my grandmother, and iv noticed some small changes in her daily behavior. is it anything i should be worried about? around what age are signs made aware of, and what are the first few things to be watchful of?

thanks for everyones answers so far..im not exactly sure which is horrible but im almost sure shes 58..which i know is still young..but shes had a heart attack before i moved in, and also used to drink,, which i know can cause alot of problems later in life..im only 16 so honeslty theres not alot i can do for her..

the first signs of Alzheimer's is usually some type of forgetfulness not your every day or normal oh i forgot where I put my keys but more complex like they may be disoriented in time or place or forget something you told them only a few mins ago. Here's a link that might help you a little. http://www.alz.org/alzheimers_disease_10...

Also it could not be Alzheimer's it could be a stroke depending on what you are saying is small changes or a mini stroke.

If you suspect any of these a physician may also be able to diagnosis this as well.

There is no definite age or general age. I worked in a nursing home a few years ago, as we all age we forget things and our behaviors can change to.This doesn't mean we have Alzheimer's or dementia etc.Stress can bring about small changes in behavior. For the most part watch her if things seem to get worse as in forgetting, misplacing or confusion see that she goes to a doctor. As for progression of these diseases they start out not so obvious as time goes on you notice more changes in behavior and memory. On a personal note my great grandmother was in her mid 80's when diagnosed my husbands grandfather was in his mid 60's. So age is unpredictable but what you see with your own eyes and living with her you know what is normal and what is not. I feel that if you are concerned get her to see a doctor. Early diagnosis is better because medications can help some in slowing it down not always but is worth trying if she is diagnosed. Best of luck.
