Have I got some sort of anxiety disorder?

It doesn't happen every day, but I know the days it's going to happen. In the morning, before I leave for college I get a horrid feeling of anxiety and worry and know it's going to be a bad day. On those days I try to avoid as many people as possible. When talking to 90% of people at college I always get really nervous like something bad's going to happen or something they say will be really cringeful on my part or they will say something which will put me on the spot and throw me; because of this worry I end up going bright red and have to laugh and make a fool of myself to avoid looking like I'm blushing for no reason. It's so uncomfortable and I just can't find any reason for it. Other days I'm completely fine, I feel the worry but I can hide that I'm scared..or I just don't care. I sometimes think it's just down to stress because we have exams starting next Monday for 3 weeks, but then I don't see how being scared of being put on the spot is related to exam stress; they're two different things. I hate it so much and there's nothing I seem to be able to do about it. I've now resorted to hiding in the study room at lunch and break times so as to avoid people. Is this some sort of anxiety disorder?

One more thing: 4 years ago I used to get awful panic attacks and the only way I could calm myself was to keep repeating that everything would work out OK and if anything went wrong (with exams) then it wasn't the end of the world. I am a sensitive person and recently I've really been suppressing my emotions, as in, I know it's natural for people (especially women (I'm and 18 year old girl)) to cry every few months or so, but I don't let myself, and I hide my true happiness as well. Maybe I'm losing my suppressive control and my body's trying to work way it should, by letting my emotions out. I don't even know why I do it, maybe it's my subconscious trying to make me emotionally tougher?

Or maybe I'm just really screwed up..who knows..

Anyone else ever been in this situation? Anyone got any help for me? Please?

I used to have a lot of anxiety, in particular social anxiety, so what you are saying doesn't sound that strange to me. Maybe you do feel enough anxiety in your life right now that you need to talk to someone about it. This may especially be true since you used to have panic attacks. But I'm not a psychologist or counselor.

Anxiety issues are pretty common, especially in young adults, so I don't think what you're feeling is a sign that you're really screwed up. But isn't there somewhere you can go at school, like a counseling center, where you can confide in someone trained to help people in your situation?

yeah it sounds like anxiety. you just need to calm down i know you may say oh yeah that's easier said then done . but its true. maybe you been stressing to much. i usually get that feeling after i go through a long period of stress usually about a few weeks after the stress has stopped. just try your best to calm down and breath. you ll be fine i promise. just take it easy.

Your disassociative behavior would indicate that you have social anxiety disorder. I think you would benefit by professional counseling, since your symptoms are too many and varied to be addressed here by people who may be sincerely wanting to help you, but lack the proper tools and experience to get to the root of your problems. Only a therapist who is trained along these lines would be best qualified to give you the help you need. Good luck!
