How do athletes with asthma control it?

athletes with asthma have a lot more challenges then normal athletes. so what do they do to control it? cause what i been doing hasn't been helping. how do the athletes over come their challenges?

By using inhaled steroids and their inhaler sensibly. The steroids aren't performance enhance like anabolic steroid and are not banned by any sport Talk to your doctor how he/she recommends you deal with it. They might refer you to a sports medicine doctor. These are the guys who really know their stuff about that very problem simply because they deal with it every day. There are a lot of asthmatics in sports.
20% of the athletes who were at Beijing were asthmatics. So it can be done.
God bless.

Yea im a very active person. I swim, play volleyball, and basketball, while traning to be a lifeguard.

I use 3 different inhalors (one for excersice induced, one to diminish swelling, and one for attacks).

In addition I use two pills, one steriod (for the asthma - doctor prescribed), and one before sleep.

Most of the times it helps. If you find that yours are not helping, descibe everything to your doctor and ask if a steriod would be right for you. If not, maybe another inhalor would help.

Hope i helped =]
