Atherosclerosis in venous side?

Does atherogenesis occur on the venous side?
Can emboli form in the venous side of the circulatory system?

Thanks!

Thrombi can form on the venous side, but these are usually thrombi that form due to venous stasis that then embolize. (Otherwise known as Deep Vein Thrombosis, usually found in the legs) I'm not sure about the formation of thrombi due to atherosclerosis on the venous side, but if it exists, it's either not as prevalent as arterial or doesn't have as many consequences.

I dont think arteriosclerosis really forms in the venous side (Hense ARTERIOsclerosis). Emboli are blood clots that do move and thrombi are blood clots that are stationary. Blood clots that develop on the venous side are usually called DVTs(deep vein thrombosis). This usually forms in the calf and usually manifests as one calf being larger than the other with possible redness, swelling and pain. Pain is usually manifested by dorsiflexion (pointing the toes towards the chin) although this is not considered a fully reliable sign. This usually forms from inactivity or venous insufficiency (sometimes related to diabetes). DVTs can turn into emboli and travel to the heart (causing a heart attack) or lungs (causing a pulmonary emboli). Hope this helps!
