What is the difference between arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis?????.. please help!?

please help me.. im confused..

Arteriosclerosis is a group of diseases that are characterized by a widespread thickening of walls of *small arteries* with resulting loss of elasticity. Most cases of arteriosclerosis are caused by hypertension and diabetes.

The most common type is atherosclerosis, which is why the terms are sometimes used interchangeably (yes, this is confusing). There are differences though. Atherosclerosis is characterized by chronic inflammation, scarring, and an accumulation of yellowish plaques of cholesterol, lipids, cellular debris on inner layers of *large, medium-sized arteries* - the coronary and cerebral arteries are most commonly affected. Atherosclerosis is a lifestyle disease of arteries related to smoking, lack of exercise, obesity, and high fat diet.

Definition
Arteries are blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients from your heart to the rest of your body. Healthy arteries are flexible, strong and elastic. Over time, however, too much pressure in your arteries can make the walls thick and stiff 鈥?sometimes restricting blood flow to your organs and tissues. This process is called arteriosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries.

Atherosclerosis is a specific type of arteriosclerosis, but the terms are often used interchangeably. Atherosclerosis refers to the buildup of fats in and on your artery walls (plaques), which can restrict blood flow. These plaques can also burst, causing a blood clot. Although atherosclerosis is often considered a heart problem, it can affect arteries anywhere in your body. Atherosclerosis is a preventable and treatable condition.

Ather/o refers to plaque and areri/o pertains to arteries, scleri/o means hardening and osis means condition of.

none
arteriosclerosis is often used as as a synonym for atherosclerosis

you can try to search that in wikipedia...but i am 100% sure that it differs from each other
