I keep getting Bacterial Vaginosis...?

I keep getting Bacterial Vaginosis... Mostly after my period. I keep getting treated but it keeps coming back. I'm starting to think it's from sex and from my partner.... what could be causing this? What should I do? I've also been trying to get pregnant. Is this the reason why I can't get pregnant?

My partner is circumcised, and I'm very clean. I wash and I wipe front to back...

recurrent bacterial vaginosis is a common problem. 1 in 3 women who suffer from BV have recurrent problems. First of try not too worry. Bacterial vaginosis is purely an inflammation of the vagina caused by an introduction or increase in the bad bacteria Gardnerella. The bacteria is always present but is usually controlled by the good bacteria lactobacillus. All number of things can cause the bad bacteria to overgrow, including hygiene. it seems to my your hygiene is good.

Bacterial vaginosis is not sexually transmitted but can be brought on be sex. having sex is opening the vagina and the possibility of bad bacteria introduction is increased.

If the treatment your are taking is antibiotics then they are good at treating BV symptoms but not the cause and that's why it comes back. You could try taking supplements of acidophilus lactobacillus, these can be found in capsule form and are basically the good bacteria taken directly.

You could also try yogurt with live cultures. you can eat it or apply to a tampon and insert it directly into the vagina.

Also other womens health products such as Femanol are very good, you could give those a try.

Do not worry you will get this sorted and then the pregnancy will hopefully fall in to place for you.

Good luck.

p.s bacterial vaginosis is not a yeast infection as somebody earlier mentioned. A yeast infection has a thicker white discharge where as BV has a thinner watery grayish discharge.

One of the more typical causes is wiping in the wrong direction. Wiping back to front can introduce the bacteria from the rectum into the vagina. If you don't feel that is the problem consult your doctor on why the infection keeps reoccurring as it could be a sigh of an underlying problem.

Edit: Since most of the common causes aren't an issue I would defiantly recommend consulting your doctor about why the infections keep reoccurring. It could indicate some underlying medical issue that is affecting your bodies ability to keep normal bacteria in check.

Also curious Bacterial vaginosis is not a yeast infection.

Bacterial Vaginosis (otherwise known as a yeast infection)
can be cause from your period, dirty underwear, and sex as well.

When you're on your period, you either wear a pad or a tampon (which both hold germs) this is one way it could be caused because germs are just sitting around and when your period is over this causes an infection. Dirty underwear has the similar idea. Sex is a bit different though. Since you're having sex (with or without a condom), there's alalotf moisture going on in there during AND after sexual intercourse.

Too much moisture is what causes bacterial vaginosis. Some ways you can cure this is by sleeping with no underwear... so ththere'sir and the germs are killed by the air, eat yogurt, or the best way is canestan 3 day solution. Canestan can be found at any drug store.
This could be what is preventing you from getting pregnant.. maybe the sperm cant get through .. see your doctor.

HOPE THIS HELPS !

it can inhibit your ability to conceive but if both of you are very clean then i would check with another doctor. often labs get busy and rushed and don't always give the right diagnosis. i was told displaysia by my dr several times, and after cones, leaps and having my parts cut on several times they kept saying the same thing. i switched Dr's and found out if was cervical cancer...and the biopsy from his lab (his office was in a hospital) confirmed it. had i stuck with my old dr then who knows how long it would have been left improperly diagnosed. you might want to go to a different doctor just to see if you get the same test results

If your partner is not circumcised and you aren't using condoms, you can be just about positive that is where it is coming from. And yes, it can affect your ability to conceive.
