I have no health insurance, and I need to get a prescription for bacterial vaginosis..?

I don't have any health insurance do to being laid off, and I can't afford Cobra. I need to buy this prescription without insurance and I was wondering if anyone knew how much the medication for bacterial vaginosis would be?

I'm going to be prescribed either metronidazole or clindamycin.

find out who the manufacturers are and give them a call. some (but not all) manufactures advertise that if you can't afford their drugs you may be able to get them free from them.
try searching google for those two drugs and see if you can find out who manufactures both of them. then find the phone numbers on SWITCHBOARD>COM. good luck to ya.
there are also sites on-line that you can go to to compare prices in your states areas. don't remember what it's called but i have been there myself when checking out drug prices for some very expensive drugs that were needed after chemotherapy.

First of all don't panic. Visit your doctor and ask them for help, explain your situation. Some doctors are able to prescribe without cost for certain cases. You can also get cheap antibiotics for bacterial vaginosis treatment.

Have you thought about any alternative treatments for bacterial vaginosis. there are a few home remedies that you can try that will work out cheaper. They may be worth a try although I would always recommend you visit a doctor.

You could try natural yogurt, try and find a brand with live cultures. Activia is a well known brand but there are others. You can of course eat the yogurt but you can also soak a tampon in the yogurt and insert it directly into the vagina.

Always try to keep your bodies own vitamin levels high to avoid infection and inflammation. Drink plenty of water and eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.

There are some other women's health products available such as Femanol, Destinol and Femmesil. All of which may be worth trying and probably cheaper than prescription drugs.

I have suffered with bacterial vaginosis myself and know exactly what you are going through.

Try and stay positive and good luck.

Treatment of bacterial vaginosis: Antibiotics - Metronidazole 500mg 2-3 times a day for 7-10 days.

Ask your doctor to prescribe a generic. He may even have free samples he can give you. Mine does that because he knows I don't have insurance.
