Question about biofeedback machines?

I suffer pretty badly from muscle tension which is a byproduct of my OCD. I am now planning to see a psychologist who specializes in biofeedback.

My question is this: After I learn biofeedback techniques in therapy, will the doctor perhaps recommend a biofeedback machine at home I can use? Do these home-based machines work if I pursue buying one on my own?

Thanks so much in advance all who are kind enough to respond!

I don't know for sure if the doctor will recommend a machine for home use. It's an interesting question that you might want to ask him before starting therapy (if it is a big issue for you).

I have experience with the GSR2 machine, the ThoughtStream machine, and the Journey to Wild Divine software.See the links below. The first 2 are pretty cheap, while the Wild Divine program is about $300. I was not very satisfied with these three., and wound up returning them. That was my experience. Yours may be more positive.

If the doctor recommends a biofeedback machine, it will probably be a high quality one that is not generally known to the public (like the ones I tried). Again, this is something you can ask your doctor about.

As you probably know, there are things like yoga, massage, warm baths, etc. that can help a lot of people reduce muscular tension. If your OCD is severe enough, you might need additional professional treatment like biofeedback. Wish you the best.
