My doctor gave me abilify, but he said that I don't have bipolar disorder?

I've never been on antidepressants/antianxiety medication before. When I went to see my doctor today, he told my I don't have bipolar disorder, but that my anxiety is what is causing my depression. So why would he give me abilify (abilify is used for bipolar disorders) and not any other medication?

also is abilify a beta-blocker.

low dose abilify is being used to treat depression. i am on a high dose for bipolar 30mg. as a person with bipolar i have depression as a symptom.

abilify is actually an anti-psychotic, which is why it can treat mania, schizophrenia, or the mania in bipolar disorder...

it seems like the stupidest thing ever to prescribe it for depression, it decreases dopamine in the brain (you know like you get dopamine when you're doing something fun)...

but i suppose maybe by taking away your dopamine, you have to do something fun and that search for fun stuff takes away your depression?

Abilify is a mood stabilizer it is not just for bi-polar. I have depression and take it to help my antidepressant do its job.

becuase it can be used for anxiety. I am on lexapro for anxiety which is most commonly used for depression

ability is not just for bipolar disorder, it is used for several other conditions as well including sleep disorders.
