What is interesting about bipolar disorder?

i have a report due at the end of this month but i need to write an introduction. thanks.

its also called Manic-Depressive Disorder, and is actually very interesting. how a person alternates between the hopelessness and lethargy of depression and the over excited state of mania is amazing.

bipolar is the same thing as manic depression
it is characterized by extreme highs and lows in mood that usually come suddenly and last a long time
during the highs the person may not sleep for days on end, could go on shopping sprees for ridiculous things they dont need(which could lead to debt), and is constantly moving
during the lows they are depressed, dont want to see anyone, sleep all the time, might not shower or take care of themselves, and could possibly become suicidal

bipolar can also include paranoia and even mild hallucinations, so it can sometimes be misdiagnosed as schitzophrenia

What I find so interesting is that mankind has continued and grown for thousands of years before the health care industry discovered "bipolar." Too bad they have no cure for this "sudden" disorder that brings in billions, maybe, even trillions for the health care industry. What a great racket to be in, eh? I must make up some of my miracle cure and design a clever package on photoshop and put this stuff on ebay. Maybe I should apply for an SBA loan for my brilliant entrepreneurship and free enterprise.

I need a million or so to really push this thing into the market and get some old geezers to buy my snake oil.

To me, the most interesting thing is how severe it can be, but if you stick to a treatment plan, you can have a fairly normal life.
