Is there a link between memory loss and Bipolar Disorder?

I'm Bipolar II and ever since my BP "crash" my memory has gone down the tubes. I'm only 26 and I take Lamictal. I forget names, numbers and directions INSTANTLY, but I never did before.

Is it just me or is there a connection? How can I counteract this?

It's the Lamictal........ I'm on it to and can't remember names, how to tie my shoes, etc..... everyone I've talked to on the Lamictal has the same problem. I Carry an organizer and write down everything....... Literally, anythign I will need to know 5 minutes from "now" I write down. And I bought slip on shoes.......

Bi-Polar Disease can cause a lack of concentration. This can cause you to be unable to remember what you read, hear. It can cause a problem while reading leaving you sometimes with the inability to remember what you have just read. I always make a habit of keeping a small notebood in my purse and one nearby at home so that I can immediately write down phone numbers, directions and have this as a reminder. Especially with phone numbers I make certain that if it is an important number that I may need again in the future I make a habit of immediately adding it to my personal phone book. There are ways you can help yourself to have the information that you need. I know it is a pain in the neck but this really helps and doesn't leave you in the lurch or lost when you need the information. I am sorry that you suffer with the Bi-Polar Disease!

I have Bipolar II also but I don't seem to have this problem. Did you look up the side affects for Lamictal? It's probably just a side affect.
