How do i go about getting birth control pills?

OK, so i was thinking about getting Yaz, because that is what some of my friends take and said they didn't get any negative side effects from it. I don't know how to get it though, do i need to get a prescription? how much does it cost?

Yes, you need a prescription. If you are afraid to talk to your parents about it or go through their insurance, you can go to a Planned Parenthood or similar women's center and they can do your exam and give you the prescription. Usually they give you discounted rates as well.

you need to go to a doctor and in order to get a full prescription you will most likely have to get a pap done too. you will need a prescription. if you have health insurance, it shouldn't be too expensive. i pay $9 a month. also, word of advice, if you are thinking about doing this behind your parent's back (just a guess here) you may want to consider talking to your mom about it. for the first month or two when your body adjusts you may act very different and have crazy emotions. also, there is a risk for serious complications such a blood clots. it's nice to have the support of your family when undergoing potentially big changes in your body and emotions.

There's usually a health department you can go to that gives birth control away for free you're just asked to make donations. If you're 18 you can go to the doctor by yourself but if you're not just ask your parents or something. Insurance will cover it then so really you shouldn't have to pay any money. Also, the doctors will determine what type of brith control is right for you.

Not knowing what country you're in, here's how it works for UK:

Go to a well woman clinic, or your GP. They'll have a chat about all of your options take your blood pressure, weigh you and give you a prescription for whichever pill is best for you. Take the prescription to the chemist to have it filled. You don't have to pay for birth control in the UK.

yes, you need a perscription to get it. just talk to your parents about it and explain to them that would like to be on it, i'm sure they'll understand. also, the Dr. will decide what type of BC to put you on, its not your descion its strictly up to the dr. And usually insurance will pay for it. Good Luck!

Stop sleeping around and you wont have to worry about it !

make a dr apt.
