I just switched birth control pills last month. How likely am I to get pregnant?

I have been on the pill since 10/2007. My boyfriend and I want to have sex but are afraid of getting pregnant. We aren't against using condoms but we want our first time to be magical. Help?

There is no guarantee that you will avoid getting pregnant once you decide to have sex. All contraceptives are subject to human and natural error. (See sources below.)

If you really want it to be magical I would wait until marriage. If you guys can wait that long it is an opportunity to prove your long-term love for each other. Also, pregnancy will be easier to handle if you are married first.

Regardless of your decision you can go to http://www.optionline.org/ for additional guidance and support.
