What age should you start to be on birth control pills?

I have been gaining pounds here and there. I havent gotten my period for a long time (4 months) and I am 17 and no I didn't have sex but my mom wants to put me on those pills. I feel like am in my 30 if I use those pills

There is no reason to be on the pill unless you are sexually active or unless you have irregular periods and want to regulate them. So there isn't an universal "right" age to start. She may want you to see the doctor since you haven't had a period in 4 months, which isn't normal. Women in their teens and into their 50's use the pill. So your comment about being "30" really doesn't make sense.

Most of the people I know start when they are 18 and in college.
