Nerve damage from blood donation?

I donated blood last Wednesday. I've donated before I don't know how many times. This time however when the nurse put the needle in the vein I practically leaped out of the chair and there was a feeling like an electric shock going down my arm to the fingertips (thumb, pointer and middle fingers.) It got a lot better once the needle was out of the vein. It's been a couple of days now and my arm still has the sensation of tingling and is still painful, especially when I stretch it out.

My concern is that I have no health insurance and I'm wondering

a) if she nicked a nerve when she put the needle in and

b) if there is any way the blood donation center is responsible for any medical bills as a result?

I am usually really good with pain (OTC tylenol is usually the strongest stuff I use even with surgery,) but I'm wondering how long I should expect this to take if its going to get better on its own.

She wasn't sticking the needle in what I thought would be the right place...
It's hard to describe but when she started sticking the needle in I thought her placement was really off. Everyone else usually goes lower. (If that makes sense.) She was farther up and to the side.

yeah she def. nicked the nerve.. WEIRD b/c it should not be there!!!.. HOWEVER.. you will be fine within the next 2 weeks, for that I am 98% certain.. and yes her agency would probably help you out, however you DID consent... so it's iffy.. so overall, your symptoms will subside and should feel normal again soon.

Probably she touched a nerve with the needle. As for making the blood donation responsible, if you can prove you got a post donation neuritis or something of the sort, a judge can order them to refund the bills of any neurologic treatment you need for that.

Probably because when he was donating the change in blood pressure caused a hypovolemic reaction. Fainting is generally the worst problem encountered. Thanks for donating
