Jehovah's Witnesses, how is a blood transfusion considered feeding?

what mechanism(s) in the body are used for feeding?

IF YOU READ THEIR LATEST TRANSLATION OF THEIR
'PERFECT "CREED IT ALLOWS FOR HUMAN BLOOD FACTORS TO BE TRANSFUSED, BUT THEY WILL TELL YOU THAT BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS ARE'NT ALLOWED. KINDA LIKE " I CAN NOT DRINK COFFEE BUT I CAN HAVE ONE CUP A DAY. THEY ARE ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF REWRITING THE BIBLE TO MAKE IT USER FRIENDLY TO THEM. FOR THEM TO SAY THAT ALL TEACHINGS OF CHRISTIANITY ARE FALSE, IS LIKE ME SAYING THAT WW2 DID'NT HAPPEN AND I WAS BORN IN 1960.

When a patient is confined in a hospital unable to open his/her mouth, he/she is being fed thru his/her veins. They call it intravenous feeding (feeding thru veins). This important for patients who can open their mouth so they can continuously receive the necessary nutirients.
So feeding can also be done thru veins. So eating/drinking of blood can also be done thru veins- intravenous.

The bible tells "abstain from blood." (Act 15:19,20). When a doctor advised a patient to abstain from alcohol, certainly the patient should not drink alcohol. What about injecting it thru vein? =) Will the doctor allow it?

OK, they feed you intravenously in the hospital when you cannot feed normally by mouth. Your body recognizes that what they are giving you is fats and protein and uses it as food. Your body will recognize that the blood you are being given is foreign and is protein, so it will use it as food. Simple enough.

While the Noachian and Mosaic Laws prohibited feeding on blood, the Christian congregation was actually given an EXPANDED prohibition which explicitly applied to more than mere "feeding"..

True Christians (such as Jehovah's Witnesses) recognize that they are bound by all the Bible's words, including "the Apostolic Decree". Ironically, this decree was the first official decision communicated to the various congregations by the twelve faithful apostles (and a handful of other "older men" which the apostles had chosen to add to the first century Christian governing body in Jerusalem). God and Christ apparently felt (and feel) that respect for blood is quite important.

Here is what the "Apostolic Decree" said, which few self-described Christians obey or even respect:

(Acts 15:20) Write them [the various Christian congregations] to abstain from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.

(Acts 15:28-29) For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper.

Quite explicitly, the Apostolic Decree plainly forbids ALL misuse of blood by Christians (despite the fact that nearly every other provision of former Jewish Mosaic Law was recognized as unnecessary). It seems odd therefore, that literally one Christian religion continues to teach that humans must not use blood for any purpose other than honoring Almighty God.

A better question would ask: How can other self-described Christian religions justify the fact that they don't even care if their adherents drink blood and eat blood products?

Jehovah's Witnesses recognize the repeated bible teaching that blood is specially "owned" by God, and must not be used for any human purpose. Witnesses do not have any superstitious aversion to testing or respectfully handling blood, and Witnesses believe these Scriptures apply to blood and the four primary components which approximate "blood". An individual Jehovah's Witness is likely to accept a targeted treatment for a targeted need, including a treatment which includes a minor fraction derived from plasma, platelets, and/or red/white blood cells.

Think about it.. ..
.. ..if other self-described Christians believed the Bible only prohibits feeding on blood, why do their churches not care if they eat and drink blood? Has the questioner ever heard a priest or pastor discourage the practice of feeding on blood as unchristian?

End result is the same.

Intravenous feeding (emphasis on the word FEEDING):
Glucose in bag outside body -----> Glucose inside body.

Blood transfusion:
Blood in bag outside body------> Blood inside body.

Vot sees no difference.

Jehovah decreed that blood is to be poured out (discarded, gotten rid of, tossed out, whatever), not stored and re-used.

When you are in the hospital and they feed you through a needle, you are being fed.
(Acts 15:28-29) For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things, 29聽to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!鈥?br>
Here in Acts it tells us to abstain from blood and from fornication, etc.
What does one do pick and choose. If a marriage mate committed fornication would it be ok with the other mate

In the case of a patient that refuses blood, are there any alternative treatments?

Often simple saline solution, Ringer鈥檚 solution, and dextran can be used as plasma volume expanders, and these are available in nearly all modern hospitals. Actually, the risks that go with use of blood transfusions are avoided by using these substances. The Canadian Anaesthetists鈥?Society Journal (January 1975, p. 12) says: 鈥淭he risks of blood transfusion are the advantages of plasma substitutes: avoidance of bacterial or viral infection, transfusion reactions and Rh sensitization.鈥?Jehovah鈥檚 Witnesses have no religious objection to the use of nonblood plasma expanders.

Jehovah鈥檚 Witnesses actually benefit from better medical treatment because they do not accept blood. A doctor writing in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (June聽1, 1968, p. 395) acknowledged: 鈥淭here is no doubt that the situation where you [the surgeon] are operating without the possibility of transfusion tends to improve your surgery. You are a little bit more aggressive in clamping every bleeding vessel.鈥?br>
All types of surgery can be performed successfully without blood transfusions. This includes open-heart operations, brain surgery, amputation of limbs, and total removal of cancerous organs. Writing in the New York State Journal of Medicine (October 15,聽1972, p. 2527), Dr. Philip Roen said: 鈥淲e have not hesitated to perform any and all indicated surgical procedures in the face of proscribed blood replacement.鈥?Dr. Denton Cooley, at the Texas Heart Institute, said: 鈥淲e became so impressed with the results [from using nonblood plasma expanders] on the Jehovah鈥檚 Witnesses that we started using the procedure on all our heart patients.鈥?(The San Diego Union, December 27,聽1970, p. A-10) 鈥溾€楤loodless鈥?open-heart surgery, originally developed for adult members of the Jehovah鈥檚 Witnesses sect because their religion forbids blood transfusions, now has been safely adapted for use in delicate cardiac procedures in infants and children.鈥濃€擟ardiovascular News, February 1984, p. 5..

its not just eating its taking it in to your body period. here is an example when people in the hospital can't eat they are fed intravenously. now if a person would never put blood into his or her mouth take it through a iV is that really staying away from blood like commanded .That's like a doctor tells a patient to abstain from alcohol. Would that patient be obedient to the doctor if he put it in through a iV

The exact same way that you are fed through your veins with a saline solution OR some other dietary need.

The fact is, is that BLOOD IS BIG BUSINESS!
That is what the problem is!

There are SO many cheaper, safer alternatives, I don't see why everyone has a problem with it.
ALL medical professionals know this to be true.

Watch this video about it:

bunch of balogna if God didn't intend for us to recieve blood transfusions then he wouldn't give the doctors the knowledge to perfom them. I don't see them denying vaccines or medications when they become ill. they believe what they want to and accept what they want. Let one of them be on their death bed and need a transfusion they will happily accept. Easy to say what you are not going to do when it hasn't happen to you are your child. My opinion

and to the person talking about them benefiting from better health 1968 what the heck that is over 40 years ago. Technology has advance if you didn't realize that.

Racy kitt you read that nonsense in your watchtower magazine even more nonsense. you are so funny. Thanks to a blood transfusion my nephew is still alive. Thank you God

your mouth, your brain, your anus, and since doctors came up w/ IV's thur ur veins w/ a needle. That's how. Come out of the dark ages! transfusions are soon to be med., procedures of the past. THANX TO JW'S around the world, Ppl are getting BETTER med health care. Around the Earth! WAKE-UP!!! ppl

baby girl, that's just dumb.
Go read! some medical articles regarding Doctors that will NOT take blood themselves, or will NOT give it to their own Family members. Yeah, ask the doctors about that 1. I read it in the JAMA. it was at a medical conference in brazil.

When my mother got real sick she was on IV fluids to hydrate her. After about a week the doctor had to put in a tube to the stomach. He said IV feeding is a somewhat of a misnomer.

short and to the point:

Blood transfusions introduce blood into your body.

Excellent question! I have often wondered the same thing!

For something to be eaten it must first enter into the mouth where saliva begins to break down the food and prepare it for the stomach to be digested.

Blood transfusions don't even come close to that!

Every cell in your body feeds, although I am sure this was not the reasoning. This would be pretty new knowledge compared to their stance.

They don't want to become vampires....

that one
u now the first one
