Can a person with type A blood receive a transfusion of type O blood?

Why or why not

yes, certainly. Type O blood is the universal donor.
blood is classified into four differents types (A,B,AB and O) according to the type of antigen (A,B,both A and B, and no antigen at all in the case of type O) that is present/absent on the surface of the red blood cells.
Now, the presence of an antigen causes the appearance of antibodies (the word antigen derives from the term antibody-generating).
A type A blood contains anti-B antibodies, which makes a transfusion between type A and type B blood impossible. The anti-B antibodies will attack the A antigens on the red blood cells and hello chaos.
And since a type O blood contains neither antigen A nor antigen B, the anti-B antibodies found in the type A blood can do no harm. So therefore a transfusion is possible.

Yes as O has no antibodies and the person with A will not react to the blood ( like they would if given B or AB blood type).
O can be given to all blood types
AB can recieve all bloodtypes
A can recieve A and O
B can recieve A an O

If A gets B the blood will clot up...not good!

Yes a person with type A can receive blood from type O because type O is the universal donor, meaning that type O can give blood to any blood type.

Yes as long as the rH factor is the same if recipient is rH+
