How would Jehovah's Witnesses react to a ban on them by the National Blood Transfusion Service?

Since they are happy to accept any number of blood factors yet refuse to donate blood for religious reasons, could they really complain if they were banned from receiving blood products?

kimbobbers; It appears that it's you who needs to do the homework. JW's accept blood factors such immunoglobulin & gamma globulin. They can accept any factor that has been broken donw beyond what they define as the four pain components of blood, ie red & white cells, platelets, and plasma. Saying that blood has four basic components is a massive over simplification, kind of like saying a car has three basic components, the body, the engine, and the wheels.

They'd clamor to get in line then, I bet. Since we know the entire organization is such a farce because many of them travel out of state or even internationally to "get that much needed blood" so that they are not seen or labeled a traitor or risk being "disfellowshipped", we know they'd now, if blood was ultimately taken away from them PERIOD, file an immediate legal action citing "Discrimination Based On Religious Preference and Denial of Live-Saving Medical Procedures/ Treatment".

The Watchtower NATIONWIDE and EVEN WORLDWIDE, would suddenly change "After careful consideration, the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class" has considered that 'MANY' factors of blood is now acceptable and will be allowed by Jehovah's Witlessness anywhere at anytime as long as YOUR CONSCIENCE is ok with this". The biblically cited source would now be so much more popular than it ever has been " 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' and we wouldn't want Jehovah to look down upon us should we refuse the much needed medical procedures that would ultimately prove to save our lives, that of our children and all of our loved ones -- because SUICIDE is a sin".

"After careful consideration by the F&DSC and through much prayer, we have received yet another 'brain fart' and 'inaudible message from God' (AKA: spiritism); Jehovah does inform the Society that taking in blood after all can help true Christians while still here in the earth. Armageddon will take care of the rest".

Waaaallaaaaaa! and PooF! Just as magical and mystical as that, and "BANG BANG PUMP PUMP UP THE BLOOD"!

Your stolen car analogy is none other than a perfect scenerio of how this bribery and hypocritical ungodly cult works. We can call them Jim Jones but without all junk in the kool-aid, but lots of junk and total deterioration of the mind. Whatever will our fellow brethern Bulgarian Witlessness do now --- since they won't be any hot topic for they've been accepting blood since 1998!

Can somebody say um.... SELECTIVE UNITY???

Blah..

Just for information. Acts was written by the Luke not James as you mentioned in your addition details. Puzzling you asked Jehovah's Witnesses how they would react but gave the best answer to someone who is not a Jehovah's Witness. In the grand scheme of things it is neither here or there with us. Report Abuse

There is a high probability that all the blood services in the future will be completely banned and sued out of existence for the countless dieases they have promulgated.

As a wellknown medical professor once said "Doctors who misuse blood missed their real calling i.e. to be butchers"

Name one blood transfusion recipient who has gained everlasting life?

Then read John 17:3

Darn, it would force them to listen to God, Christ and obey the Bible. Surely they are doomed (Sarcasm).

(Acts 5:19, 20) Hence my decision is not to trouble those from the nations who are turning to God, 20 but to write them to abstain from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood

how can we identify them if we are to prevent them from receiving any blood factors ? Not all people donate you know . Vegetarians don't eat meats why should they pay taxes in a system that encourages Meat consumption and trades in it too .

We only have to hope for the best and that one day JW will come to realize that Drinking blood is not like transferring it .

Peace.

They would be ecstatic. As an end-time cult, they are always looking for signs that they are being persecuted, as this confirms that armageddon is getting near, and they can rejoice in the thought that their god is going to kill all the non-witnesses.

Timmy?
Timmy!

Yeah I guess they get enough blood though, they won't even let gay people donate so...

besides who would really want to see a little kid die because they couldn't have any blood? I wouldn't want to see that, not even an adult.

No they wouldn't but, they'd still need to use blood-tranfusion alternatives just in case they...needed a blood transfusion. It's just goes against god's will to take someone else's blood into your body.

I believe JWs do not accept blood transfusions (I am not sure about other blood products) because of religious reasons.

It would certainly be poetic justice, but very illegal to institute such a ban.

I wouldn't care; I've never accepted blood, not when I was an unbeliever and much less now.

It is not Jehovah's Witnesses you have an argument with it is with God since Acts 15:28,29 is in the Bible.
They are only obeying orders not cherry picking them.

Big Brown and Unsililenced Lioness talk complete tosh. The one thing noticed about Jehovah's Witnesses are their sincerity of their faith. To them God is watching, they have no quiet corner of the world where God cannot see them.
The only thing Big Brown and Lioness have in their veins is piss and vinegar, thankfully nobody takes them seriously, with their snatched out of the air bogus claims. They are notorious snakes who have nothing left but curled lip bitterness.

Maybe there are looking for Yahoo account deletion number 13

No an issue with me since I don't accept as well as give.
We do not refuse transfusions just the type that are blood transfusions. I also like to add that bloodless surgery techniques have come a long way in years. Some people are stuck in the "middle ages" with their attitudes about the issue of blood.

Blood is not always the only choice on treatments. Some surgical techniques are not too careful in preserving the patients blood in the body during surgery and as the patient bleeds they pump in blood to replace that loss. Where as non-blood surgery the surgeons would first prevent as much blood loss first by sealing the blood vessels as much as possible as incisions are made into the flesh and organs.

This is just one example, there are many alternatives than just pumping pints of blood into people. And there are people who want to propagate the myths about blood transfusions. And blood transfusions are not all saving lives, thousands of people have lost their lives and got serious illnesses from blood transfusions or been given the wrong blood type.

Blood factors are restricted [whole blood, red cells, white cells, platelets, blood plasma] and also an individual conscious decision as to whether accept any of the permissible factors or not at all. It is on their legally binding blood exemption card the treatments they may allow or not at all.

Galatians 6:5
For each one will carry his own load.

Acts 15:28,29 we are commanded to abstain from these necessary things including idolatry, fornication and also blood. Blood is symbolic and sacred to God for the life of the flesh is in the blood. (Leviticus 17:11) Some in the world may treat our obedience to God as something sinful but we obey God as our ruler rather than men. (Acts 5:29)
Newspapers are a good source of scandal mongering. If a child really needed a life saving blood transfusion as his only way to survive would he really have time to wait to go through courts? The news reports never say the reasons why for the blood transfusion. Often it is a refusal of blood transfusions some doctors are against Jehovah's Witnesses, not that other specialized treatments that are available.

Keep informed about factual knowledge about blood.

Define 'blood factors' please
I am not a Jehovahs Witness, was braught up as one though, and although I do not donate blood,I also do not use any blood products either.
I think some people have a very twisted view on the religion, when really they are too ignorant to find out the truth about it,Instead they listen to what narrow minded people think and pass that message around.
Maybe you should do some more homework before making statements that have no relevance whatsoever.A ban would be pointless,as it would not affect Jehovahs Witnesses. They do not use ANY Blood products and if they choose to do so then thats a moral decision, and are only answerable to God,not a decision that the Government should make for them. There is such a thing as freedom of choice you know.

They would take advantage f the government that they do not support and clamor for justice through their massive legal foundation.

Ms.Big Brown nailed it in an earlier answer. I will go and look for the link..

they are screwed. If they change their policy they are open to be sued by the thousands who have lost family to this flawed rule. Might be something for a law student to write a thesis on.

Edit: Smart women make piss poor Witnesses

I want to know what scripture says they can't donate blood. And if they use the one about storing blood (The one they use, I believe, to excuse storing their own blood to use later), where do they think the components of the blood they CAN use come from? It has to have been stored at one point! Another inconsistency.

Edit- Timmy I like that analogy with the car.. Raymond Franz gave a good one about how they won't take whole blood, but will take the factors, "That's like a doctor saying you can't eat ham and cheese sandwiches, but you can have bread, ham and cheese but only separately." Yea.. That makes sense.

I think its a great idea. Maybe we would lose a few more a bit quicker. Not the JW kids though obviously, only those that are stupid enough and old enough to make this pathetic decision.

*"JWs don't just refuse to GIVE blood, they refuse to TAKE any too.
They do not allow blood transfusions, and indeed they teach that if a Witness has a blood transfusion they will certainly lose all hope of salvation, which shows that they have no concept of forgiveness."*
There are cases where JWs have refused blood transfusions to their children, who've subsequently died, so banning JWs from having blood transfusions would actually free the parents from having to take that decision.

Kilroy...what a stupid thing to ask....name one blood recipient that has received everlasting life...how is anyone meant to know?? Can you name anyone who hasn't received blood but has received everlasting life?...proof please!
