Is there such a thing as a breast reconstruction specialist?

Yes, and you can ask your doctor for a referral. If he/she doesn't know of one, you can call your local hospitals. Make sure you research this doctor very well-check all credentials, make sure they are board certified in this specialty, and have done this procedure numerous times. Also, try to find out ff the hospital has had doctors perform breast reconstruction surgeries before. That does matter.

Good luck! I've read many articles about doctors not explaining to breast cancer patients all of the options available to them. Research this well, and be forceful if you have to. Patients have to advocate for themselves!
