What should I take to the hospital when I have my breast reduction?

im having a breast reduction next week. I was just wondering what I should take to the hospital. Im going to have to stay the night andI was just wondering what am I going to need?

Wear a button down shirt so you don't have to lift your hands over your head to put on a shirt.

Sweatpants or some pants easy to get on and off, same thing with shoes. Don't worry about a bra heading there, and ask your surgeon if you need to get a bra to go home in.

Get some handy wipes, something you can wipe down with if you feel icky dirty.

Camera if you are taking before/inhospital/afters. (I did this and it helped me see how I was healing).

Pillow when heading home to cushion your newly reduced breasts from the seatbelt.

Trash can/bag just in case you feel nauseous on the way home (I brought one but did not need it).

Book to read (you may not need it, because I was out of it most of the time).

You will most likely wake every two hours or so, they come in to take your vitals and 99% chance you'll have to pee not long before or after they visit.

You should check with your physician first, in case he/she has something special in mind. BUT, ususally you don't need anything except your toothbrush and comb, etc. The Dr will decide when the original dressing will come off, but he/she might suggest that you bring a sports bra with you to wear over the bandages when you go home. One thing you will find thou, IF your Dr is good, you will be told that you CANNOT lay on your sides for several weeks and also that you CANNOT lay flat on you back either. Prop several pillows behind you so that you are sleeping on at least a 45 degree angle. Also when you go home, be sure to place ice packs over the bandages to help reduce the swelling. HINT: bags of frozen vegetables work better than ice bags.

when i went, i just brough a change of clothes (a button down shirt, sweatpants, and slip on shoes). the hospital provided me with a toothbrush and i didn't worry about brushing my hair.
