Is anyone else super hungry all the time while breastfeeding?

I am breastfeeding my 3 month old and would like to lose some weight but omg I am always hungry! I never used to eat this much but now I am hungry all the time, especially at night. Anyone else have this happen?

Oh yes! Like two huge bowls of pasta and hungry about 45 minutes later. And had to eat every night for a long time. At 19 months (my son, not me) I still often have to get up and eat at night. We joke about how I always have to have a bed banana:)

I really started losing weight after my son hit 6 months. Keep breastfeeding, it's the best thing for your body to recover from the pregnancy.

You're doing the right thing, just try to keep it as healthy as possible, I know it's hard when you are so completely ravenous you just need to put some food in your stomach right now! lol!

Oh, I just had a thought, eat wholemeal for bread and pasta etc and brown rice because they will keep you going longer. And potatoes, forget about it! They have me hungry about 30 minutes later. I now eat rice most nights because it's the only chance I have of getting a full nights sleep (without having to get up and eat).

"They" whoever "they" are, say you need more calories while nursing that you did when you were pregnant. It isn't uncommon to not lose the weight right away. You'll stop paying attention at some point and just wake up one day and realize you're smaller than you were when you had your baby.

not me, but I do have friends who are like that, it is more common than people think it is. As long as what you are eating is healthy foods though, (think fresh fruit and veggies or cooked fish etc.) it should be fine, and you should be able to lose weight anyway.

I am bfing my 1 month old and I feel like I am constantly eating! I have increased my fluid intake but still eat almost nonstop. For me so far its okay since I have lost all my pregnancy weight already.

Good Luck!

I'm currently bf my 6 month old and my appetite has recently returned back to normal, but for the first 4 months I was constantly eating and I was always thirsty.
