Can someone help me about cervical cancer?

What promotes cervical cancer and how can i tell i have it?
Thankyou.

HPV causes cervical cancer.

Anything that compromises your immune system can hurt your body's ability to fight HPV. To name a few: smoking, second hand smoke, HIV, certain medications, stress, having a bad diet.

There are also some genetic factors involved.

The symtoms would be pain and bleeding, especially after intercourse, but cervical cancer often produces no symptoms. You can tell if you have it by getting a pap smear. Pap smears are pretty effective in catching cervical cancer early, but also getting an HPV test really helps to know who is at risk. If an HPV infection persists, the doctors can watch you close and perform other tests, like a colposcopy where they look at the cervix under a microscope, and an ECC (endocervical curterage) where they scrape cells from higher up in the cervical canal.

there can be many reasons why someone gets cervical cancer, its true tht hpv can increase your risk of cancer, it is not exclusive and having hpv doesnt automatically cause the cancer. life style factors increase the risk, for example diet and smoking has also been linked to cervical cancer, being hiv + also increases the risk. also underage sex can increase your risk as it can damage cell if your body is not fully developed at the time of intercourse. its also been shown to have a social link. women who work in manual jobs, and who are living in the more deprived areas are more at risk thn those in the more afluent area, thre is also of course a herieditry risk aswell.
the only true way you can tell you have it is a smear test.which tests for cell abnormalitys, though i would add, these are not allways cancerous.
xx

HPV virus only accounts for around 70% of abnormal cervical cells, the rest is unknown.

The thing with cervical cancer is prevention, that is why smear tests are so important, any abnormal cells can be detected and treated before they become cancer which usually takes many years.

After cells are removed they are sent to pathology for biopsy to ensure the entire area was removed and no cancer was present.

There is no particular way to tell if you have it unless you get what called a smear test , A doctor inserts a small instrument in your erm..... yeah and then they take a bit of your erm Vaginal tissue stuff. And they test it. As well if you are between the ages of 12 and 14 you may still be eligible for the vaccine against it!
The person above gave a great answer but I thought I would simplify it a bit...........

the HPV virus causes it...you can get it from sleeping around and will be infected by some guy who has it i think :/

some doctors call it ''the silent killer'' cos u never know u have it...some people get a sore tum and stuff..

have a look : http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/defaul...

:)

Kids are getting jabs for it..

x good luck! x

One of the causative agents of cervical cancer is human papilloma virus (HPV). The only way to truly know if you have it not is to go to your gynecologist and have a biopsy done.
