After recently having the anti-cervical cancer vaccination, is it safe to have sex? |
I just recently got the 2nd out of 3 anti-cervical cancer vaccination. im getting the last one in early july. I heard that having sex after receiving it reverses it, but i'm not sure if it's a rumour or not. I heard that you usually have to wait 6 months before having sex (again, this is from a non-medic source!) So im wondering if sex and sex related activities really do reverse the action? Please help, and give me sources. The HPV vaccination is not as effective if the person having the jab is already sexually active. I would wait until you have had the 3rd jab otherwise it would be pointless as the vaccination will not yet be fully effective. Its not 100% effective anyway so still use protection when having sex x What it is is not that it reverses but it does not allow you to be fully protected from it. And if your sexual partner is a carrier of one of the 7 strains you can in turn catch it and it can stay dormant for years after exposure. So its best to wait 3 months after your last done yes you can have sex just as always use a condom. the vaccine takes a while to work, so if you have multiple partners you are likely to undo all the good work. I had sex about 4 hours after having the jab with no conctraception and my nurse advised me this was fine ! If i was you i wouldn't take rumors at all and i'd make sure i had the last injection before i did anything! |
