Chiropractic Schooling Concern?

I am looking to become a Chiropractor when I graduate high school and I was wondering if anyone could help me out?

I have been told that Chiropractors have to work with human cadavers... can anyone tell me why? And if its necessary to work with one?

Chiropractic sounds medical and legitimate, but it's been proven to be ineffective and 'straight' chiropractors have some very strange and unscientific beliefs about the human body.

If you're interested in the field why not study to be a physiotherapist, orthopedic doctor, nurse, occupational therapist or a number of other proper medical occupations? These professions have good standing in the scientific and medical community, and have proven results.

Here are a couple of links where you can find out what chiropractic really involves, but listening to this really helped me to have an informed opinion on the topic: http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4042

Well, I don't know about chiro school but in medical school, you have to work with cadavers in order to learn about the thing you want to heal, the human body. How can you heal something you know nothing about? Don't worry about it, it's not scary, just really really stinky because of the preservative. Also, remember to respect the body, it was once a person.

Last: Why not go to medical school or nursing school? It's not quackery.

Yes, you have to work with cadavers for about a year. That involves dissecting and studying every structure of the body. The reason is so that you can understand what is going on with the body as a whole. I think that this a little overkill, as chiropractic is mainly concerned with spine related issues, but you've got to jump through the hoops. Chiropractic has been researched and proven to be effective...all you have to do to see is go to www.pubmed.com and type in "chiropractic" or "spinal manipulation" to see for yourself...
