Tx for diabetes until I can see a doctor? |
I've has excessive thirst for about a week. I realize that is a symptom of diabetes. I don't have insurance but do have a doctor appointment next month. I would suggest going to your local library and checking out a copy of the Atkins diet to ensure that you are doing it correctly... Do some exercise every day. That is also good for lowering blood sugar. Don't go nuts with the water, because it will just make you urinate even more. Do a Google search on the glycemic index scale and eat more food with a low value. Do not try to completely eliminate carbs because that is your body's fuel. Follow these 4 rules when eating: Exercise!! walking for an hour each day as fast as you can will do more for the potential diabetes Rx than anything else other than doing the low carb food plan. If you are diabetic then you really need to know without waiting a month. I would suggest that you either go online or to some store like Walmart and pick up a cheap blood glucose meter, you can get one for under twenty bucks, or even free if you go online, however, you really probably shouldn't wait for it to be delivered. If your sugar is over 160 it definitely needs to be checked out and 160 is on the high side. Stay away from the sugarless sports drinks unless you workout and need to replace your electrolytees. You should also add cinnamon to your food and tea whenever you can. It helps to lower blood sugar. |
