Do contacts dry out your eyes?

I have really watery eyes that water for no reason and i was wondering if getting contacts would help dry them out a little. I don't need contacts or glasses but i would get the non prescription kind. I'd probably get colored contacts.

Great Question.
I believe it is safe to say, that contacts can contribute to "dry-eye", a condition that is the opposite of what you describe. Contacts don't necessarily dry out someone's eye, but the fact that a foreign object is being placed in/on the eye (the contacts), can make that condition more noticeable.
Now... with excessive tearing, there are options, such as tear-duct blocking procedures, and as far as contacts, you might notice a very slight improvement to the "problem"... But not markedly.

I know from experience that having dry eyes, as opposed to "wet" eyes would be worse for contact wear. So... that said, go for it!

Good luck!

Contacts aren't suppose to dry out your eyes, and I wouldn't purchase them to do that. If your eyes are bothering you that much, the same doctor that would give you the contacts, can give you something for your eyes. No need to get them, it's probably just allergies anyway and contacts would surely make that worse.

If you just get colored contacts it would dry your eyes out but it could also irritate them.

If you over wear them they would but that would just wreck your eyes
