How does God think of eating disorders? |
Does He think it's a selfish idol because some people are actually starving by no choice or does He actually care about it? I had one for 4 years, God helped me through it, and I'm trying not to go back to it but it's hard to see myself and not wish I looked the way I did last year. Just curious to hear your thoughts. I personally think He thinks I'm being selfish for having an idol, but sometimes I wonder if He cares about my problem and has compassion. He loves you and wants to take care of the body he made for you. It says in the bible that your body is a temple and you should love it the way God made you (in HIS image). I too have an Ed-I've had one for 6 years and I still have one. While I feel like a selfish person I def believe that G-d does not think it selfish-it is an addiction just like drugs, alcohol etc. I know many people think it's a choice not to eat and that if "those ppl w/ Eds only knew about the poor and hungry in the world" but as u know it isn't about the food-the food is only a coping mechanism to deal with the pain. You aren't selfish for having an Ed-keep fighting and keeping using G-d to help you through this struggle. Eating disorders by definition are an abnormality that are not according to God's perfect will for our lives. Just like everything else in that category the merciful and compassionate God of Heaven wants to deliver us from those types of things and give us the power to overcome our infirmities by being made new in Christ as his Spirit changes us from the inside out. I am sure he sees it as your intent has made it. If you purposely are not starving others by having a disorder, then I am sure He sees it as a medical problem. Prayer will help, I am fighting one of those myself. Good Luck and keep the Faith!!! I agree with what he had to say about eating disorders http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9_v-o_eF... god worship is according to your mindset it s the way you see everthing belong to god creation if we appreciate his thing we are appreciating him it's really a sin! but god hates the sin not the sinner! and it's a choice! As the illnesses that they are. Your body is God's temple. You should eat right and exercise. But don't abuse the body God gave you by harming it. If you make an effort its ok does he talk to you daily? I think/know its a mental disorder. . . it almost has nothing to do with god except you believe in god. that's fine. but really the human mind is more complex then just being able to explain the things your thinking and feeling away with simple "god thinks im being selfish." He thinks fatties need to learn how to put the fork down. |
