Taking ranitidine for GERD?

I went to my doctor for my stomach problems and he said I have GERD. So, I was given ranitidine to take for a month (300mg). When I take it, I later on have feelings of anxiety and an odd feeling in my stomach. I feel very..odd. I get very anxious and seem to have a panic attack or am just having heart palpation and an uneasy feeling all over to make it seem like an attack.

Anywho, I'm very scared to take the pill because of this and am wondering what I should do.

There are other medication options for reflux. If you are having side effects from your medication go back to see your doctor and try a different medication. Different drugs affect people in different ways. If one medication doesn't work for you, for whatever reason, see your GP and try a different medicine.

Most of these medications, including ranitidine, are available without a prescription. If you want, you can go to the drugstore yourself and pick up another type of medication for GERD, like Prilosec or Nexium or Prevacid. I think they also come in generic (omeprazole, esomeprazole, and lansoprazole, respectively).

I don't know your whole medical history, so maybe you should call your doctor's office first to check (just let the receptionist take a message and get back to you).
