Why does reflux(gerd whatever) cause this type of chest pain?

Recently been suffering squeezing inside my chest right behind sternum. Full cardiac workup was negative.

Quit smoking started taking a PPI medication(which i stopped after one week when everything felt worse) now food feels like it gets stuck in my throat when i eat, i can drink lots of water which i can feel go all the way down but i will still have the squeezing.

Further really bad episodes of the squeezing make my ears fill full of fluid and the roof of my mouth feels swollen. Occasionally i can feel the blood pump through my chest into my neck and up to my head.

Trying to get GI appointment, but the joys of health insurance in this country make it a slow process.

PPI was capodex

The pain is from the acid refluxing from your stomach up into your esophagus. You definitely need a work up with a GI doc.
What kind of PPI med were you on? Sometimes one kind will help when others don't. THere's Nexium, Protonix, Prevacid etc. ask your doc to try a different one until you get your GI appt.
