If you had a Genetic D.N.A test and the results proved? |
African origin Even if I ended up with no recent African origin, I'm sure that I can be related to those with African origins by way of shared Native American origins. Most Americans whose families have been here for hundreds of years are related. Black, brown, red, tan, peach, and white. Not a surprise really. Many Africans, especially the Somalians carry European dna on the Maternal side, showing that ancient white women lived in that area thousands of years ago. You may find this article interesting: "Who Are the Americans?" from www.dnatribles.com: I wouldn't care any more than if i found out a cro-magnon killed and ate Neanderthals. I don't have any control over what my ancestors did or didn't do. Feeling guilty about it is silly an pointless. None of my ancestors owned slaves that I am aware of. The vast majority certainly didn't. One did have some nasty encounters with native Americans but that was his crime, not mine. I sure wouldn't want to adopt a North Korean type country where the sins of the father are payed for by the descendants for generations. It is really a sick mentality when you see it enforced. Any person with U.S. ancestors from farther back than about 1850 who would be surprised by such a result - white or black - is too naive to live in the real world. I've been working on my genealogy. I haven't found any black ancestors yet, but I won't be a bit surprised if I find some. Not surprised. Well, the truth of the matter is, we all really do have African ancestry. It's just a matter of WHEN. My DNA indicates that's it's a good ways back, unfortunately, which explains why it's so darn hard to get a decent tan! I can lay out in the sun all day long and all I do is burn and peel, burn and peel! There's a little Native American, according to family stories, but I haven't been able to pin it down with any DNA search, so it isn't on the straight male or straight female line, which are all that can be searched very far as of yet. Both of those indicate Europe. But Europe means as far back as 40 thousand years at most. Before that it had to be Africa, as anthropology has shown. And that far back, the actual number of ancestors is well-nigh astronomical, so who knows who all is crowding the charts that I can't actually trace. Why, there could be Asians and Africans and Native Americans all over those tree branches! Wouldn't that be exciting! There was one story about a fella who took a ship off to the South Sea Isles and got cooked in a big pot by somebody who didn't care for his attempts to take over. There was another story about a fella who tried to immigrate to America in order to avoid serving in the Prussian military and arrived in the U.S. just in time to be conscripted into the U.S. military! One branch is supposedly from Poland but the last name seems to be shared mostly be black football players, so who knows what I'd find if I could actually find some records on anybody! Somehow, though, all the most interesting folks disappear into the woodwork and the ones who show up in the records tend to be the dull stay-at-homes. I've said it before and I'll say it again, a person should never embark on a genealogical search unless they're willing to find a skeleton or two in the closet. Because those old closets are chock full of them thangs! Believe you me! |
