If I have oral herpes, can I give myself genital herpes?

I caught a really nasty virus, I've been out for days, and I began to get quite a few sores in my mouth. My doctor said it was oral herpes. I was in shock because first of all I've only made out with one guy and that was a while ago? Anyways, I'm really sick so swallowing my own spit is difficult. (This might be kinda gross sorry) So when I sleep at night my spit just like drains out of my mouth into my pillow, or face, or hands or whatever is around at that moment. I have no energy to get up so I haven't really showered much or washed my hands much.

Well yesterday my clitoris became really tender. So today me and my mom looked at it because it is so painful it even woke me up once last night. We aren't sure but it looks like there is something on my clitoris?

Is it possible that I gave myself genital herpes? My hands have been down there because sometimes I sleep like that, I don't know why, or sometimes it just is comforting.

So is it possible that my saliva touched my clitoris spreading the herpes? :(

It is possible, but you should exercise caution if you have herpes; even better personal hygiene is a must.

You were probably born with hsv 1 most of us are. as for giving yourself genital herpes, it very possible to spread hsv 1 to different parts of the body including the genitals. Be careful and take extra precaution. But i doubt you spread it to your genitals from what you wrote.

Possible, but very unlikely. Let me try to explain.

First, herpes is not spread through fluids. It's almost always spread through skin-to-skin contact. So if you touch your sores, and thus get the virus directly on your hand - and then IMMEDIATELY touched your genitals, you could perhaps spread the virus to your genitals. But it would be through touch - not through salivia accidentially somehow wandering around the bed and ending up on your genitals. Keep yo煤r panties on and you should be fine.

Second, once you have an established case of herpes (lets say HSV1) it is very very difficult (some doctors say impossible) to infect another part of your body with that same strain. After a couple of months, your body will have antibodies that will serve to protect you against casual, accidential infection.

But if you had JUST caught herpes, and this was your very first outbreak, and you touched your sores and then immediately (within a minute or two) touched your genitals, you could give yourself genital herpes from your oral herpes.
