What are the chances of spreading genital herpes? |
i have genital herpes and my girlfriend doesn't, what are the chances of spreading it with unprotected sex? she has allergic reactions to condoms and doesn't want to use them but i don't want to risk getting her infected. and yes she knows i have herpes Herpes is at it's most contagious point when there are signs of an out break, that goes for any type of herpes. The risk is even further reduced if she is on some kind of suppressive therapy. Also NEVER have sex if you think your having or if there is an out break in progress. Don't even have sex with an out break and a condom to cover it. You should know that condoms don't do much to prevent herpes from being spread since they don't cover all areas of the genitals that herpes can affect. Is she allergic to the condom or the spermicidal lubricant because there are ways around both. If it's latex then use lamb skin, if its the lubricant then get condoms that aren't lubricated and buy ky jelly. It's very likely she will get herpes from having sex with you. Women get it faster than men do...even with protection, but protection does help. DEpends on it the herpes is active. I would consult with your doctor as there are times when herpes is inactive and it is safe to have unprotected sex and other times its not. Talk to your doctor as some treatment can help. Find out for sure as if your herpes is active there is a very good chance she will catch it. I would strongly encourage you to try to find a latex alternative condom. They are slightly more expensive... but until you marry someone and they make the decision themselves, I don't think it's fair for you to subject them to a permanent disease. Talk to your doctor before you make any decisions. Look up the transmission studies done for Valtrex on Google... I think chances were around 60%/year or something of that sort. does she know you have herpes? |
