How common is glaucoma in young women?

It seems I have all the symptoms, but everyone I've talked to thinks it's something only older people get. I'm 26.

Also, how quickly can it progress? I have an appointment to get it checked out in a week. Should I try to get a sooner appointment?

It is uncommon for someone so young to get glaucoma, but it certainly can and does happen to some people. My cousin had it when she was 25. My mother, my 3 aunts, and lots of other cousins along with myself all have glaucoma. It runs in my family. If it runs in your family, then there is a much better chance of having it.

No, you do not need to get a sooner appointment unless you are having a lot of pain or if an infection could be the problem. Infection usually causes a lot of pain especially in the eye. Glaucoma is often symptom free. My guess is that they are going to tell you that it is something other than glaucoma. If it is glaucoma, treatment with eye drops is quite effective at bringing the eye pressure down.
