When is Obama going to do something about the price of health insurance?

There needs to be some kind of regulation for insurance companies. I have a good paying job, expensive insurance that hardly covers anything. The only words I hear are NOT COVERED. And I have no major health problems. I can't imagine what the cost would be if I got cancer or something serious. Die or go bankrupt. Those are your options.

Uh, I guess you didn't hear what he said hundreds of time during his campaign; or what he's said and done since.

"If you've got health care you're happy with, you can keep it. If not, you'll be able to get it."

Recently, he convened the group that's going to develop health care reform -- with representatives from providers and consumers.

His stimulus includes money to reduce health care costs and improve efficiency.

In short, he's working on it, but it will take some time.

I don't want him to do anything about it! Government has no business meddling with my insurance.

Belle - you need to educate yourself on socialized healthcare... you're dreaming if you think it will be as good as you say. You'll have less treatment options, longer waits, less medications, and pay a hell of a lot more. Do some research on European socialized healthcare.

I have not lived in Europe so I take your word for it that UK is fortunate, but my wife's family lives in Czech Republic and they are not as fortunate and I hear stories from them about having to wait days to see a doctor or schedule tests, or having to travel hours to the city just to get proper care, etc... Also everything you said that you got in England you can get here as well and you don't have to pay taxes for it, you just have to have a job that pays health insurance. So why nationalize the system and pay more in taxes? No thanks.

It is not in the job description of the President to do anything about health care. Get your own health care, buy insurance or die.
It is not up to the American people to pay for your health care.
Do you want to be taxed to pay for other people and have to pay for your own care as well? I for one am tired of paying for those who choose not to take care of themselves.

Charity should be the province on churches not the government.

It's not his responsibility.

If you have expensive insurance that doesn't cover anything, why don't you switch your insurance? Are you seriously too lazy to do this? Do you expect the government to do everything for you?

The last thing we need is the government involved in our health care any more than they are already.

first, you should collect some resource by searching the relevant keyword in search engine,if you got good luck there ,then your problem solved.however,if you are not able to find the ideal answer by doing that, here http://www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info/fre... is the resource i recommend.

Tomorrow. Happy now?

The issue of medical coverage in the US is a HUGE problem. Its one of many he's working on. It a little much to expect him to sort out everything in just 6 months.

He is doing something about it. Instant gratification is not guaranteed by the Constitution, and seldom available in Washington.

He is working on it. Haven't you heard all the b*tching about "Universal Health Care" and "National Health Care"? It will not be an easy task.

One thing at a time. I know people are complaining about taxes and money that he's spending, but it's all in an effort to get to this.

he needs to stay out of the way when it comes to health insurance, if you cant afford it get a new job.

He was only talking about that back when he was running for office.

There are a couple more pressing issues to deal with at the present time.

He's working on it.

He haven't come up with an answer yet

National health insurance should be implemented in this country. We are the only developed nation who doesn't think it necessary to provide health coverage to all it's citizens. Yes we would pay more in taxes, but in the long run it would be less out of your pocket than what you pay now for insurance premiums, deductibles and co pays. I would gladly pay twice what I do now, if it meant better social services, like free health care for ALL! It is a disgrace that we have the nerve to call this the greatest country on Earth when so many people can't go to the doctor when they really need to. We should be ashamed of how we treat our citizens. We as a people, need to wake up and realize there is a better, more cost effective way to provide for our citizens.

John, I did do my research sweetie. I lived in England. My husband is British. It is a stone cold myth that they have limited access to different health care options. If you get sick, you are in to see your regular doctor usually that same day. If it is the weekend, the NHS has doctors that make house calls, free of charge. My husband broke both his ankles, a yr and half later he ended up needing reconstructive surgery. They scheduled it so quickly he had to reschedule it so he could get things in order..ie work notified etc etc. There is nothing that you would need to have done that the NHS cant cover. My husband dad (in England) ended up needing a pace maker (long story as to why he needed it, so I wont bore you with the details) and now he has a state of the art pace maker that isn't even offered in this country.
I have lived in a system with national health system, have you? It is a myth perpetuated by the ignorant in this country that in a national health system services are harder to get, and the quality is even poorer. Nothing could be further from the truth.

If you'd ever had to deal with Medicaid or Medicare you wouldn't be asking this question, you'd be saying "I hope he keeps his hands off it". Every single thing the government gets it's grimy hands on goes south and the track record in those two programs should prove to any one that the same would hold true with an all encompassing universal (socialist) health care program. In the years that my handicapped daughter was in the medicaid system I was threatened no less than 3 times because I refused to have her "fixed" so she couldn't get pregnant and her caseworker was constantly forcing herself into our private lives. An appointment to see a specialist took months and because of that I nearly lost her twice.

It will be nothing but an invitation to the government to dictate to people how they will live and even if they will live.

Smokers will be fined for smoking (Taxes and anti-smoking laws are already trying to force this)

Obese people, and even some who are not obese will be fined for not losing weight. (Haven't you noticed the recent reports decrying this?)

The elderly will be told when they are no longer allowed to live. (Assisted suicide is now acceptable?)

The handicapped will be told if they are allowed to live. (Remember Terri Shiavo?)

People will be told when and if they can have children and how many they will be allowed to have and abortions will be required for anyone who does not adhere. (China set the standard for this atrocity)

And the list goes on and on.. and this doesn't even include what would be required of those in the medical field for such a program.

Do I wish health insurance was more affordable? Of course, but I do NOT want the government involved in it.
