How long does the hepatitis b vaccine last? |
How long does the hepatitis b vaccine last? Although it's true that theoretically a hep B series is for life, this isn't always true in reality. There's a thing called immunologic memory and it's defined as "the capacity of the body's immune system to remember an encounter with an antigen due to the activation of B cells or T cells having specificity for the antigen and to react more swiftly to the antigen by means of these activated cells in a later encounter". It's supposed to be for a life time, but that's not true for all people. If I am not mistaken, they, as of now, say it doesn't have to be repeated. |
