What does it mean to have high blood pressure? how does it affect ur body?

My husband said he was feeling dizzy and nauseous yesterday, we went to the store where they had a machine to check his blood pressure and it was like 144 supposedly it was high, we don't know nothing about blood pressure, But how does it affect people I mean he is only 22 who ever gives me the most info on it gets 10 points, thanks!

Hi Carolina H
When your blood pressure is high it means your heart is working harder and your arteries are getting more force than normal. With High blood pressure you are at higher risk from stroke, heart attack and kidney problems. A normal blood pressure reading for an average healthy adult is around 120/80. Your Husbands at 144/?? is high, but don't panic. Did your husband rest 5 minutes after arriving at the store before taking his blood pressure as he should have to get an accurate reading. If he did then his BP is high but there are things he can do to bring it down. I suggest the first thing that he should do is visit his Doctor to get an accurate reading and if it is still high then as I said there are things that he can do to bring his BP down naturally.

I hope this helps you
