Can a child as young as 6 possibly have irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)?

If so what are the symptoms i'm not sure if my son has IBS i just wanted to check, before i take him to the doctors.

yes, in babies they call IBS colic. Symptoms would include irregular bowel movements, sometimes diarrhea sometimes constipation, considerable flatus, and often painful abdominal cramping. It takes considerable invasive testing to get a diagnosis of IBS tho, so don't be surprised if the doctor is reluctant to go there with a six year old child.

it is possible, if there is a stressful environment around him or if he has recently gtten stressed over something.
symptoms are painful bloating and or wind,
and a cramping feeling whn ossibly stressed.
Also certain foods such as bread, cabbage and processes sugar and wheat may ake it worse.

Yes. Try to keep fatty dairy products out of his diet, and make sure he gets good fiber through fruits and veggies. I would definitely take him to a doctor, and maybe a gastroenterologist if he is suffering. Good luck!
