Is it safe to take tablets for Irritable Bowel Syndrome whilst ttc? |
Me and my partner are ttc (which I havent mentioned to my GP) but last week I was prescribed Colofac as the dr suspects I have IBS (which I have looked at the symptoms and I don't think I have). I havent started taking them yet, and today I read that you shouldn't take take them if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. I am slightly worried so just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me? Me and my partner are so desperate to conceive and I dont want to take anything that is going to hinder conception or harm the baby if I do conceive. If you have read that you shouldn't take these pills when trying to conceive or when pregnant then you definitely should not. Try changing your diet. I'm sure the doctor can suggest changes in diet that can be helpful for the IBS. There is probably lots of info on the internet regarding ways to calm your symptoms without medication. Try telling your doctor that you need an alternative treatment since you are trying to conceive I can't give you a good answer, as i do not know, but if you are trying to concieve then stop taking them, it is my understanding that there is nothing that can be done for IBS at least not in the prescription world. |
