Irritable bowel syndrome...[pregnant]?

So for the past little bit everything I eat gives me pains in my belly, and then it just goes right through me.
I told my mom about it and she said that she looked it up and that when you are pregnant you are more likely to get IBS(Irritable bowel syndrome) because everything is so smooshed together.

Is that true? does is sound like IBS? and can the doctor give you anything for it, or do you have to wait it out and let it treat itself?

Also, im 31 weeks pregnant.

Sounds like IBS....Doctors will probably just tell you to eat lots of fibre and drink lots of water.....There's nothing they can really do for it. There are some products that can help. Here is Australia we have one called "IBS Support" - its a once a day tablet and can be bought at a pharmacy.

Perhaps you have developed a food allergy? Ive hear pregnant women can become susceptible to wheat/gluten, lactose, yeast...etc...perhaps you should consider this as a possibility?

Anyway, I would make a doctors appointment, just to make sure its nothing serious!

It could very well be IBS.
I had it for about 5 years, but then my first pregnancy actually cleared it up like magic, and I haven't had a problem with it since then. I've never heard of anything medically being used to treat it, other than trying to figure out certain foods that specifically affect you. Caffeine, lots of fruit, spicy foods, and veggies like broccoli can make symptoms worse... and you may find it helps if you try to eat smaller meals more frequently.
Pregnancy is notorious for clearing up preexisting ailments, and bringing on plenty of newly unwanted ones. Hopefully yours won't last longer than the pregnancy itself, good luck :-)

I have similar symptoms. I get constipated and bloated super easily, and then everything goes right thru- cramping and all. My OB said IBS is common in pregnancy too. Sorry if I can't help, but at least you know someone else is feeling the way you do. Good luck with everything!! I am 22 weeks. :)
