Why aren't clinically obese people just given liposuction on the nhs?

People are allowed to have boob jobs and nose jobs on the nhs so why can't clinically obese people have liposuction, or can they?

Last week my best friend underwent a boob job procedure and she's really happy with the results. Where I live a there are certain surgeons that are better than others. I'd consult plastic surgeons in your area and see what they have to offer. http://www.plasticcosmeticsurgerycenter.... A local cosmetic surgeon should be able to answer your questions.

Removing the fat through liposuction is a temporary solution at best. The obese need to relearn how to eat and to change their lifestyle to incorporate daily exercise. Most doctors agree that if they were able to do that, they would not have become obese.

Those who lose weight through liposuction (and many who have gastric bypass surgery, too) gain back what they lost unless they are able to make huge changes and stick with them for the rest of their lives.

If they did liposuction on that large a scale, the person would experience large-scale fluid-loss, and possibly just die there on the table from fluid loss. It would be very dangerous to attempt removing large amounts of fat at one time. It would take many many different sessions over long periods of time and lots of recovery and stuff and in the end it probably wouldn't even be worth it, they'd just gain it back.

As long as a surgeon deems it necessary for their health they can, but most insurance carriers consider this procedure cosmetic and won't cover the expense,
