What are some things that reverse and/or stop macular degeneration? |
What are some things that reverse and/or stop macular degeneration? I have macular degeneration. The eye doctor told me to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Also he said to take the eye vitamins that's on the market for the eyes. Lutein is one that's very important, but there are several on the market with a mixture of all the antioxidants and other things that are healthy for the eyes. If you are a smoker or ever have been, avoid high doses of Vitamin A. Also smoking causes the disease to progress faster. They have not found any treatment to stop it or reverse it, but this slows it down. Wet macular has a laser surgery they can do to help, but dry macular as I have there are no other treatments at this time. I am constantly looking and open to anything new though that anyone else knows about. There is not really anything major that I have heard of. One thing you must do is protect your eyes from bright sunlight, always wear sunglasses. This can help to a minor degree from making it worse. |
