Is 54 too young to begin menopause? |
I am only 54 and outraged that my doctor suggests my missed periods are due to menopause. I truly thought I was pregnant. CAn I still be pregnant even though th test was negative? 54 is NOT too young, it is actually a typical age, and the chances of being pregnant after the Doctor did a test and said it was negative are low. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it is entirely possible you are in menopause. Do you know when your mom went through it? Consider yourself lucky, in my family menopause starts as early as 35. The average age of the menopause is 51. Most women experience the menopause within two or three years either side of this age and the symptoms of the menopause, night sweats, hot flushes, nervousness, irritability, sleep disturbance, loss of libido and loss of self confidence The pregnancy test will test for the pregnancy hormone. It is present when you are pregnant. Chances that you are pregnant when the test came back negative are slim. I am sorry. 54 is not too young at all, most women begin going through menopause in their late 40's but don't go completely through it until their mid 50's. You can have your doctor check your FSH Hormone levels and they can tell if you are menopausal.. But, yeah it sounds like you might be there.. Better than being pregnant at 54 don't you think? No not at all. |
