Can someone help me with this problem regarding my menstrual cycle? |
I'm a female in my twenties. For the past few years, my period has been out of whack. I won't get it for a few months, then I'll get it for a week, then it'll stop for a few months. Well lately, I've been bleeding non stop. I have to wear a pad every single day. Sometimes I'll spot, sometimes I won't, and sometimes it's extremely heavy. Like yesterday, I wore a pad but nothing at all. Then I didn't wear one at night and then I woke up in the middle of the night and I was drenched. I feel like I'm going to be wearing a pad for the rest of my life! I know I need to see a doctor and I know it's probably because of me being a little overweight. What do you think causes this? Has anyone been through this before? I don't like taking medicine and I know sometimes a doctor will prescribe birth control pills to regulate your period. I know I'm anemic by now because I do get dizzy spells and I'm craving the smell of a permanent marker and chewing on ice. I'm in a very tight financial situation and I don't have health insurance. you better visit your doctor - read below Im sorry you dont have health insurance, I feel for you. It could be a number of problems but it sounds like no matter how serious the matter, you do need to be seen by a gyno to get the situation under control. If it is just a matter of getting on birth control to regulate your period, suck it up and take the pill, shot...whatever method you choose. "I dont like taking medicine" wont help anything. Although some irregularity is normal, what you have described is not. You do need to see a doctor. If you choose not to go on the pill to regulate your cycle then the doctor may have some other suggestions for you. But the pill is an easy, fairly inexpensive way to regulate your cycle. What you are experiencing does not sound like much fun. I'd get it checked sooner than later, to rule out any other problems. I'm not a doctor, but these problems don't sound like they're due to being overweight. And it also doesn't sound like something that you should keep waiting. Go to the free clinic first thing in the morning. If you can't get medical insurance then get medicaid through the state. This sounds like something is seriously messing with your reproductive system. Yes you need to see a doctor. This can happen to a lot of women. Some times just going on birth control medication will correct the problem. Check to see if there is a plan parent hood or free clinic that you can use. See your doctor!!!! Just because you may be over weight, that should not cause your body to act like that and your periods should still be fairly regular at this age in life. The cause of this could be a lot of things, and i do not want to scare you or anything since I have no idea what the real problem is, but I do know that some of the causes that this could be from can do much harm to your body. Are you having any other symptoms? (like extreme pain in your lower abdomen or back? or pain during/after sex?) One of the more common causes of really heavy non-stop bleeding is a disease called endometriosis, which can cause infertility and is fairly common in women, especially during peak fertile years...but left untreated, is the #2 cause if infertility. I am by no means saying that this is what the problem is, but I think you definitely need to see your doctor ASAP!!!!! |
