I have a Menstrual Problem?

I am a healthy 23 year old female. I usually get my period every month like clockwork and am finished on day 6. My concern now is that I started my period a week early...it was SUPER light. After 10 days of that, I started a heavier flow. It has been like that for 2 days now.

Does anyone know how to explain this?

Thanks in advance!

The causes of early menstrual periods can be divided into psychological and physical. Psychological aren鈥檛 as common as physical, in fact, it鈥檚 normally accepted that physical causes are responsible for irregular periods.

* Psychological causes for early menstrual periods.
Anxiety and other forms of emotional daily stress, overwork and fatigue can cause early menstrual periods. If these factors are not controlled, they could make you lose emotional stability. Therefore, these could affect your body functioning balance, producing alterations that will lead to early menstrual periods. Either way, keep in mind that the physical causes for early menstrual periods are much more frequent.

* Physical causes for early menstrual periods.
Hormones like estrogen and progesterone have a definite effect on your menstruation since they regulate the ovulation during the menstrual cycle. Without a balanced level of these hormones in their bodies, women are unable to properly ovulate producing abnormal (anovulatory) menstruation that will lead to early menstrual periods. This is why maintaining healthy hormone levels is important to avoid and control early menstrual periods.

If your period continues to be early over the next cycle or two, I would recommend consulting with your doctor for further evaluation.

Good luck :)
