How much does it cost for the brain surgery to treat obesity? |
http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?... This is a highly risky procedure. It's called Deep Brain Stimulation. It costs, well, for one person, it costed at least $75,000. It is only a last ditch thing, really if you care about your brain, it is dangerous. Think about it. Brain surgery=always, very risky, hemmorage, infection, you could go into the operating room and come out, never going to be the same person, come out a vegetable. It isn't covered by insurance, there is no way anyone sane would let you go through with it. Haven't you heard of gastric bypass? You don't need brain surgery for obeisity, it's a stomach problem, not a mental problem, buddy. As much as I feel for you, I really really don't think it's in your personal interest to be getting DBS. I'm starting to think a little about DBS, but my situation is a bit different... I have Tourette's syndrome, we've tried a lot of drugs, therapies...we're not seeing results...I'm tearing out the walls, knocking everything over, beating myself in the head, can't walk, and really depressed, almost suicidal, my OCD is tremendous, nothing is working, not doing enough to help, and I can't live like this. DBS is advised for last-ditch, desperate efforts such as that, where quality of life is gone, where nothing, absolutely NOTHING is working or helping and none of the conventional methods have helped. Gastric bypass is more for you, hon. I understand the struggles of obeisity, my mom is obese, really obese...joint problems, pain, depression, simple overweight-ness, yeah. But gastric bypass is a long way from brain surgery. and if you haven't tried that yet, you have to give it a go before you do DBS. Honey, that was pnly the second operation of its kind done. It is a trial surgery...they are not sure how it works out. my guess is A LOT !! |
