Is it an allergy or pink eye? |
My right eye has been watering for 3 days now and right below the eye is extremely painful. I went to the doctor and without a close examination, said it was an allergy and perscribed 3 days of prednisone which were done yesterday. The eye is not pink (but the prednisone could have been supressing that part) but there is "gunk" in it and espeially overnight. I am not sure what to do at this point or what else it can be. It is painful, but not itchy. Thank you for any thoughts! It could be pink eye. While there are several different kinds of pink eye, almost every case of pink eye is viral pink eye, and there is no particular treatment for it. It will get better on its own within a week or so. Check with your pharmacist for over the counter eye drops for pink eye. You need to stop wearing your contacts until the symptoms disappear, and throw those contacts away and use new ones when you start wearing them again. I have seasonal allergies and it makes my eyes very red and itchy When I had conjunctivitis years ago, my eyes were red, painful, draining liquid and they had a lot of "gunk" in the morning, almost to the point that I couldn't open them. You need to go to the Dr. and get a prescription for antibiotic drops. Good luck. |
