My eyes are all red and itchy! Is it allergy pink eye?

Last year in the spring, my eyes were continuously red, itchy and runny. They were very sensitive to sunlight. I went to the doctors and put me on Pataday (these eye drops). I missed a lot of school because I couldn't even open my eyes, Finally towards the end of the school year it began to clear up and I could wear my contacts again. Now, this morning I woke up and I couldn't open my eyes once again. Do you think this is being caused by my allergies? I take Claritan daily. Can you reccommend anything else to help me get over it??

Its not an allergic pink eye, or else you'd have lots of goop and (sorry, I know they're not exactly technical terms) gunk coming out of your eyes. What you have sounds like a severe eye allergy - the redness, itchiness, etc. If the Claritan isnt doing it for you, I would really suggest going to an allergist. They will probably want to do an allergy test (either through a blood test or by sticking you with a series of very small, barely bothersome needles in your arm that aren't bad at all) - to see what you're allergic to specifically, but make sure that you put emphasis on asking them for some kind of medication / combo stronger than just the claritan to help your allergies. Describe your problem - you shouldn't have to suffer so much that you can't open your eyes or wear your contacts.

If you can't get an appointment with an allergist for a while, I'd suggest calling/visiting your primary and asking for something to help. For example, I know some doctors will let you try Singulair along with Claritain - maybe they'll suggest something along those lines until an allergist can give you better relief.

i would say to try to touch the eye.
put cold water on the eye...it will probably heal your eye.
i think it is from the flowers or bushes of from trees.
i had that last year.
also when you go outside wear sunglasses.ok?

did you doctor say anything about how it would heal?

its springtime, its probably pollen HAYFEVER, look around where you live, do you see a lot of flowering trees or bushes, I have these white pines by my house and when they release their pollen they turn my car yellow green because they release so much. Although they are not really flowers
