Listerine strips during oral sex? And health risks of doing so?

My boyfriend posed the question to me...I'd never heard of it before. He just popped a few of those babies into his mouth (the cool mint flavor)..it made me tingle *down there*...but also in a good way.

I was just curious as to whether other people are doing this...and what's the health risks of doing so?

The tingling is because of the "minty" aspect, most likely. Ever had that feeling in your mouth, where it's kind of tingling? The mouth and "down there" react very similarly.

Ironically, I just talked to someone the other day about using a dab of toothpaste in your mouth before oral sex. I've heard of using mints, as well -- those seem most common.

Most likely, the only problem you would see from this is irritation, which should be mild and go away fairly quickly. Depending on what's in the strips, they could cause a yeast infection -- but I wouldn't worry too much about that.

For intercourse, they make lubricants designed for the same sensation. However, that wouldn't be very practical during oral sex -- I expect the taste would be atrocious and would ruin it for both of you.

As long as you didn't experience irritation, I would guess it's alright. One thing to note is that you shouldn't put the strips directly on your genitals -- depending on the other ingredients, it's not a wise choice. But in the mouth, it would be fine.

Do you ever have that not-so-fresh feeling? Well, there's the opposite condition to worry about, that rather-bracingly-fresh feeling. A brand of all-natural soap, "Dr. Bronner's", is imbued liberally with mint oil. I normally only use it while camping, but one day decided to try it in the shower at home. The volatiles in the mint oil feel great on your feet and scalp, but "down there" is a whole other story. Likewise, getting sufficient amounts of minty irritants in contact with the female genital mucosa could bring a lot of discomfort. Probably nothing of lasting consequence, but nobody wants the cold burn of some Ben-Gay-like substance in their nethers augmenting their sex life. The mouth strips may be fine in moderation. If he grabs a jug of the mouthwash, though, run away!

i can imagine some of the chemicals used for the strips irritating the area... but besides that nothing.

it might be irritating, but probably wont cause an infection lol
