Will Typing on a Computer make Osteoarthritis [in the hands] Worse!?

my mum [who's 41] has osteoarthritis in her hands [and elsewhere in her body]. she needs to know if anyone knows if while typing on a computer would make it worse in her hands? it already hurts and you can see that her fingers are joint damaged and swollen. it would depend on the time limit but i need to know if it would make it worse putting pressure on it. please help we need to know

She shouldn't stay on the pc steadily if it bothers her this much. Taking breaks for a few minutes ata time may help. Try soaking in ice water or warm water, either one may help.

Osteoarthritis is known as wear and tear of the joints. Between the joints are cartilage and when that starts to wear, we get Osteoarthritis, bone grating on bone! Someone told me, 'Get two sheets of course sandpaper and rub them together, what happens? At first the sand paper is hard to rub together, but the longer you keep at it, the smoother the sand paper becomes until it glides'. So if you take that and look at Osteoarthritis, if you can get to the stage where the bone edges are smooth, through wear, then they will glide. Therefore keep up the typing. Best of Luck
