Where is the best place to go for managing pain from osteoarthritis? |
I'm living in the New Orleans area. So far I've been on 3 different, so called inflammation fighting/ pain relievers. If they are helping, I'm so thankful. As it is, on bad days I can't even think straight, it's hard to work. During those times I don't want to be there, but it's no better at home. I fear for my job. I'm there, but I'm not there. Doctors look at you with such sympathy and understanding, then give you a super duper amped up aspirin. If I had something to get me through the bad days, this would be tolerable. Where is the best place to go for help, I don't need sympathy. I just need relief. You need to see a Rheumatologist first. They will take care of your Arthritis and then transfer you to a Orthopedic Surgeon when the time is right for replacement joints. If you are not under a Rheumatologist, well you are out on a limb, as PCPs will just prescribe aspirin. Anti inflammatories are just part of the fix. Weight control and some type of exercise for flexibility can help too. My parents did Tai Chi and Yoga well into their 80's. And I know, you hurt, so the last thing you want to do is move around. In the end, it's the best way to go. |
